Collaboratively working between our team and yours is a crucial component in developing a brand strategy as well as the resulting brand identity for your business. Through a series of questionnaires and workshops, we can work towards assessing who you are as a business, what you do, how you ‘speak’ to your audience, who your ideal audience is, gauge your competition, and lock down what your true, marketable points of difference really are.

We oftentimes approach visual identity and brand systems a bit differently—we love to bring artistry back into the generally sterile world of traditional identity design. Crafting most brands by hand, we focus on building a comprehensive brand toolkit. This means that we create a system of graphics and elements that enable your brand to feel distinct, memorable and easily identifiable. This is not “just a logo.” This process results in a primary, secondary, and tertiary system of assets that adds a layer of richness that is as truly unique as you are. Our branding process is oftentimes inclusive of, but not limited to: your logotype, mark, color palettes, typography, taglines, icons, illustrations, patterns, textures, and any additional supporting marks.

Our studio’s strength is creating custom lettering & typography that is as beautiful in its execution and composition as it is approachable in its hand-crafted imperfections. The art of hand lettering is a traditional craft that dates back centuries, and the recent resurgence in this art form was likely spurred by the mass-availability of refined, digital, and pixel-perfected typefaces all over the web.

We embrace the analogue process of hand lettering: crafting every single letterform, independent of the others, giving the utmost consideration to every curve, line and dot. Perfectly imperfect, these hand-hewn letterforms have a level of character unachievable by simply “using a font” or typesetting a title, word or phrase.

Bringing unprecedented character to the words we create, our lettering styles are broad and our techniques span the spectrum of heavily traditional to heavily digital, using everything from brush and ink, pencil and pen, to full-fledged digital production with iPads, Illustrator and Photoshop.

As we have always believed that “form follows function”—all visual decision making is derived from strategy, purpose and intention; however, this doesn’t mean that your design application needs to be robbed of all personality. We pride ourselves in crafting traditional graphic solutions that are as strategic in their intent as they are eclectic in their aesthetic. Remember y’all, we’re adults, and we can have fun whenever we want!

Live & Event Artwork

Getting a bit of insight into the creative process is not only informative, but it’s damn cool to witness! Whether you’re throwing a launch party, kicking off a marketing campaign, hosting a corporate event, attempting to garnish attention around a release or activity, or simply have some extra dough in the budget, we’re here to help you step things up.

We can paint a mural of your brand values for people to watch (and for you to later hang in your office), or we can create a larger-than-life coloring book with illustrations and typography that define your brand ethos, and your employees/party-goers can come fill in and paint themselves! We can live-draw, live-paint, live-letter, or otherwise live-create anything around your business manifesto and/or purpose, not only bringing value and awareness to what you stand for, but bringing a remarkable level of excitement and engagement to your event or party.
