The Ultimate National Park Font Bundle

The Ultimate National Park Font Bundle

A collection of hand drawn adventure fonts, inspired by National Park posters and signage.

Background on the National Park Font Bundle

When it comes to graphic design and branding in the outdoor industry, few designs are as timeless WPA National Park posters.

Further complementing the beautiful National Park posters are the lettering fonts found on trail head and mountain town signage and the iconic National Forest Service logo.

The lettering created for each of these carries a sense of adventure, history, and rugged beauty — qualities that perfectly reflect the spirit of the outdoors.

Knowing that the majority of the typography for the aforementioned designs was actually hand drawn lettering (aside from the sans serif type that is routed with a CNC machine on trail head signage) Vicarel Studios was inspired to craft our own hand-drawn font variations of this iconic lettering.

It is our hope to make these beautiful lettering styles more accessible to graphic designers around the world through the creation of these fonts.

Why We Created The National Park Font Bundle

We designed the National Park Font Bundle with a deep appreciation for the aesthetic that defined the aesthetic of outdoor signage and design. Custom hand lettering is a tedious process that can take HOURS to draw just a few letters.

Creating The National Park Font Bundle enabled us to invest time up front, meticulously crafting every character by hand, and then turn it into a simple, functioning font for graphic designers and hobbyists alike.

With these 5 fonts, we’ve shortcut the hand lettering process so that you can achieve the aesthetic of hand crafted lettering with the simple stroke of a key.

Each font in this bundle embodies the spirit of adventure and the great outdoors, with a unique hand-drawn quality that makes them each incredibly unique while simultaneously all working together seamlessly.

From signage found in mountain towns to worn down trailhead signage in the National Parks, these fonts are great for logo design, branding projects, and poster designs.

The National Park poster font and signage inspiration

These adventure fonts are inspired by a number of different things. Namely: National Park poster fonts, the National Forest Service logo font, trailhead signage fonts found in the National Forest, and mountain town signage fonts.

We wanted to create an adventure font bundle that was clearly connected to the hand drawn fonts found in the National Park system. Because of this, when using these fonts you can immediately connect your work to the great outdoors.

A monoline font that evokes the strength and durability of trail signage found in the National Forests all around the US. This slightly humanist, monolinear sans comes in two styles: clean and rough. John Muir Serif: a slab serif version of the National Park poster fonts.

John Muir Serif is a slightly adjusted version of John Muir Sans. While this typeface is inherently inspired by the National Park poster fonts, it functions more so as an aesthetic evolution of John Muir Sans, and helps round out this font pack with an outdoor slab serif offering.

Adventure fonts: why these fonts work well together

The beauty of the National Park Font Bundle lies both in its versatility and it’s ability to convey a feeling of adventure.

All five fonts share a common inspiration — the great outdoors — but each brings something different to the table. VS Trailbum font offers bold, playful letterforms, while John Muir Sans provides a more quintessential outdoor aesthetic. Outdoor Script adds that memorable National Forest Service logo aesthetic, and Trailhead brings a simple, bold playfulness to any project.

Not only is their inspiration the same, but each of these fonts was meticulously drawn by hand before it was digitized.

Because of this, this bundle of adventure fonts can easily be mixed and matched in a variety of ways.
